just came back from a stockyard cow sale. The prices I say were as follows
1-3 months bred 400-600
3-6 month bred 650-750 ( most seem to be in the 4-8 year range)
Cws with calves at side 750-900(100-200lb calves)
Cows that had 300-400lb calves and bred back 1-3 months 900-990
Breeding black bulls 700 dollars
These prices were reasonable and fair-I did not buy due to the fact that I did not go prepared and I am not sure if I want to expand the herd right now. They were suppose to be off a persons farm and he was there.

Those prices would be easy to live with. Compare that with the sale results here last Tuesday.

Sounds like he was robbed. Good deal for the buyers though.

Yeah...if you've got the feed!

My steers are goin' to the auction today. - wrong time, wrong market, the whole works, but with no feed (and a tight budget to "farm" with) I can't afford to keep 'em.

Last couple weeks, the market in E. Oregon / SW Idaho has dropped 15% or better on feeder steers. Cattle buyer I spoke with this morning said, "Nobody really knows what steers are worth right now".

/Grumpyness off....I feel better now.
