The frame of our kewanee offset disc broke today. It is the main beam frame. It appears to be some sort of cast metal but has square tubing welded to it. Has anyone any experience with something like this happening and perhaps suggested repairs

If the "cast" part was factory-welded to the steel frame, MOST LIKELY, it is NOT grey cast iron, but a STEEL forging.

Thanks. It does have factory welded steel to it. What sort of rod should one use to weld this?

On cast metal I like the sandwich repair. Two holes on each side of the break some 1/2" thick steel bar and some of the biggest bolts I kin find.
My welding looks like where some body spilled chilli though.
