Have a 2001 with the 5.3 motor. Just friday the oil pressure has started swinging along with the engine rpm. It is always over the 42-45-that has been the normal but now increaces with the motor rpm, now at 35-3800 rpm it is running 75 psi!!! Any ideas?????

I have to agree with Bob.. my 2000 yukon does similar. i see pressure in the 40-70 range... rpm dependent.. also.. if it's close to an oil change it swings more too.

Sounds like you have an oil pump problem the relief valve in the oil pump is stuck . if engine was new & tight it would blow the filter off the engine . Had this to happen on 68 ford F-100 360 engine at about 60,000 Miles of course would have to be in winter with temp about 20 deg and me with no place to work inside . Had to take oil pan off not easy job laying on ground with wind blowing under truck .

My 2000 truck started that at about 190,000. Now at 215,000 it ain't caused no problems that I can tell.
