Anyone know what the spec's are for the head bolts? It's a gas four cylinder. I think you normally start in the middle and work your way to both ends, and tighten in increments to reach the final value. My guy at the parts store could not find a figue for this tractor.

Your putting this tractor together with out a book!!! i have been working on engines since i was 14 and still to this day i use the books and no you don't just start in the center and work your way out as there is a parttern that ya go by and to explain it on here i would have to know how to draw a diagrahm and i am not computer smart . When i work on something that i do not have a book for then i go and buy one and many guys don't like the I T Manuals but they have served me well for many years as they have served many dealers on the off brand that they may come across on trade ins . I use to do contract work for a Old Oliver dealer on his off brand trades because his mechanic did not know how to do a T/A job on a I H or work on the hyd. systems and he would call me to come up and fix them and he had every I T manual printed at the time in a rack in the shop even the mechanics there would use them before looking in the Oliver books . So go get a book on your tractor .

I see your point, however to explain a little more as I probably should have in the first post. This tractor was under water for a couple of days. I took the head off to see how much dirty water got into the cylinders. I'm not rebuilding the tractor, just cleaning it up and want to put the head back on.

Everything has been cleaned and flushed, including removing the accorn from the generator(pesky underwater squirrels).

I can probably find the spec's on another site.

Well ya still need the book as for the pattern on the head bolts along with valve set . I am not tryen to be a smart arrs but tryen to help ya get it back up and running and run for a long time . Also you will want to retorque the head and reset the valves once it is up and running after it gets up to operating temps . and myself i do not care what some of the guys think a bout a I T manual they are vary helpful and yes at time they do not tell the whole story but also neither does the Factory shop manual . Now call me cheap but with all the books that i have if they were FACTORY books then i would have a small fortune layed out it is bad enough that i have layed out over the years in professional motor manuals and all the I T manuals for the tractors that i have worked on over the years and if i got and OUTCAST in to work on i would go and buy the book so i had it if i need it again . one can never have enough knolage and ya learn something new each and everyday.

Your are right. And I didn't mean to sound rude. I have a manual for my 1066, just never got one on this old tractor. Guess I'm just trying to hurry things along. I need to get going as fairly soon so I can rake hay with it. I appreciate your reminding me and maybe others that things should be done right and yes it takes manuals to the right way many of the times.
