Came in from the barn last night and noticed the light in the garage door opener was on.
The door had been open for several hours so I ask the better half if she had been out there and she said no.
Ok...now what? I have no idea what's inside that thing and I hate to replace the entire unit.
It normally times out in a few minutes.
It was still on after supper so I just turned the whole unit off. I have a switch on the wall to shut the power off.
Any ideas? It is an old unit...at least 20 years old. The brand is Ranier
Thanks in advance.....

Yeah...I can do that...just don't like the Mrs in there without a light...she has enough problems with a bad leg walking as it is.
I may get a light with a motion detector in there...or just replace the whole unit...gosh I hate to do that...this has been a real good unit.

Mine is not a Ranier, but if yours is anything like mine, there isn't much inside that can be fixed. Just a few printed curcuit boards and some other electronics. If yours is 20 years old, I think I would just replace it, Either that or remove the light bulb.

I suppose there is a timer that burns out. My 99 Ford did the same thing, cab light got so it stayed on so I just clipped the wire. maybe you could unscrew the bulb?
