Hi All,

Spent most of the day waiting for hay to cure.

In the meantime, I threw a coat of wax on this old beast, hooked up the baler, twined up, oiled up and greased.

Just got back from checking the hay and it's bone dry so if there is just a dew in the morning, we're gonna see if I got skinned on this old tractor or not.

Hope it's got power enough to pull that baler. :>)

Allan

Is that a farmall 1066 ?? A guy in our town has a 1973 farmall 1066 and he claims it will pull anything. He always is tring to tell me that it is putting out 150 H.P on the PTO.... seems high to me. I like the looks of them a lot. I never had driven one. I know the guys brother claims he likes thier ford 9600 better than there 1066. He claims the ford is more user friendly in the cab. One more question... What is the difference between the Farmall 1066 and the 1066 with the black stripe on it? Thanks Pete

Same DT-414 engine that's in our 1086. Put out 145 PTO on the dyno when new... had it overhauled in '97 and it put out 144 during the break-in.

Hi Pete,

Yes, they can safely be turned to 160 hp. Standard was around 125-130 tho.

This one is a '75 model 1066 and I bought it solely for the power.

The only difference in the black stripes was that they were '76 models, which was the last year that the 66 series tractors were produced.

Allan

Hi Allen. I just don't know if you can handle that cab with a windsheild wiper and a cooler on top. You just might go and get yourself spoiled. Good luck. Charley.

Oh you'll like it fine. But ya gotta open the back window so you can hear the chains growl. I always thought if I ever had a cab I'd hook up an intercom system.

Allan

Did I ever tell you guys I'm deaf in one ear and can't hear out of the other ear.

Too much time on noisy tractors turnin to the right when I was a kid. So the ear doc says.

Left ear is bad. As it is with most farmers with a hearing loss.

You might want to take that straight pipe off and put a muffler on it.

Gary

Looking at the face of that Hydro he don't look all that happy to me. Other guys get to go to the field and play and he's stuck there with that great big Kahuna wrapped around him. Maybe if you move a bale or two with it it will stay quiet for a while. Looks like nice hay for the winter. Migraine

Careful Allan! I'd hate to see you rip that exhaust pipe off driving under a low-hanging tree branch! : )
