Guys,

Back about a million years ago, I had a 656 under a F-10 loader. It was just a killer machine, but I do remember that I didn't like the slow reverse of the gear drive tractor.

I think this little hydro with it's quick gearing is just gonna be the take-all ticket for loader work. Might have finally found a use fer this tractor! :>)

Now, I gotta spend the next few days redoing all the hydraulics, replacing seals, hoses and all the "bad parts" of this one.

One day at a time, as they say. :>)

Looks like the sort of challange you like Allan; I still kick myself for passing up an old JD A that had a (I think) f25, cables all over and a rube goldberg loader with teeth. A group of home owners had it to clean up the beach each spring or storm. Had been several years since it ran. They used it once and hired it done after that. Good luck and keep posting those pics. Back when Dad was running cattle (around 500 cow/calf pair a year) I helped load/unload Lord only knows how many semi loads of big round bales with an F10. Started off with the MD with power steering, live pump run off the crank snout. Dad bought another M with F10 with a PTO pump, and bad to no brakes. Both had grapples and braces to keep from splitting the tractor. Others in the area would use big payloaders and 150 horse tractors to be able to load a second layer on a semi, with the "little" M's we could load and unload as quick, although the gas M without live hydraulics wasn't as quick as the MD...

If you want an F25, I know where there's one sitting up around your neck of the woods...

Oh, good.
I had thought you were taking the loader off your H to put on the Hydro. Better that you should have two loaders. You gonna keep the bale forfk on the H and put a dirt bucket on that one? Or a snow blade?

Hi Guy,

The darned heads are an issue with this loader. The fella that used to own it did some fabrication with the welder so the quick-attach feature is totally gone.

For now, I'll just put on his homemade grapple fork so I can feed the critters this winter. Will have to start scrongin' for the proper 8 foot material head/grapple.

Little H is going to get the bucket and moved in here to the hills to maintain this yard. Too darned many tractors out at the farm anyway. :>(

Allen you are going to make me tell my age now, I used to put lots of those baby's together back in 51 for the IH dealer just a litle south and west of the Cowman. Ever see one that some one tried to lift to heavy a load up high and one of those rams just run right out to the end? and then they send this kid out to change it, picture the loader up in the air and a ram with a 90 degree bend and it holding the whole works up.If I remmember right I unhooked the hyd hoses and beat the pin out of the back and let her come crashing down, next problem ever try to haul a 30' 90 in a 1/2 ton pick up. LOL. After that I strapped the new one on to my trusty IH W4 and away we went, at least I could now reach up and hold it till ready to come down.
Keep the pics coming Allen, can't sleep if you forget us for a day. LOL>

She's a beast! I've never seen a loader that encages the whole tractor. Pretty crazy looking, and tough as nails, I bet.

Yes Sir,

After a guy gets used to these old Mamas, everything else comes off as a bad imitation toy.

What I like most about 'em is that they throw the weight back on the rear axles where it belongs and they are very lightweight as compared to the front mount type, which need a lot of iron to get their strength.

Downside is that they do tie up a tractor and having a cab on the tractor really gets in the way.

Old habits die hard, I guess. :>)

Allan, Post pictures of this loader working if you get a chance. I dont think I have ever seen anything like it. BTW I have 2 more fields of wheat to plant and I will be done. Thinking about talking to a few other people who have fields that are beginning to grow up with weeds. Going to try to tend their land also. Another project to work on.

Allan, you forget the red paint and brush while you were at the dealers. Or maybe get some rattle cans..:>)

That loader just not going to look rite attached to that pretty bright red tractor, without a new red outfit!!..:>)

Oh heck no.

They gotta be a faded orange color. They came out about 1952 or so and gotta show their "battle scars". :>)

Took me about 20 minutes to mount that old sow; now the hard work starts. Makin' 'er work like she used to again. Lotsa hydraulics on these old things! :>(

Oh Wow momma, pappa's in the big time now! I thought you were gonna put the F11 on it. Oops.
Hey, you gonna use the old one-stick rotary valve? I can run one of those in my sleep.

You bet!

Always thought that rotary valve was the sharpest idea ever thought up by mankind. Really like the way it will do two hydraulic operations at once.

I'm gonna use the PTO pump too. Like the "fast" action of those things.

One little snag tho.

Remember when you could buy half a dozen seals and reinforcement springs for $2.13?

They are $26 a side now. One leather and one spring. :>(

No kidding!

I saw a farmer lay down $346.00 for one gear that goes in a NH round bailer yesterday. Then I commenced to paying $20.00 for a starter relay.

I wish there was a different NH dealer near me.

I guess it's all what you're used to Allan, but that looks about as handy as a saddle on a sow. Haven't seen one of those since I was a kid in the cornpatch, and it was on an H with no power steering. Now that will make a believer out of ya. Harley

Boy, I dunno.

Think I'd argue this one 'til the cows come home.

For my money, no loader built before or since has ever compared. Unless maybe it was the F-25, which is just the same thing with no cables. :>)

'Course, I grew up on these things too.

I bet you just might change your mind if you got to run one of those new fangled tele handlers like Deere sells. But not about the "For the money " part as those new ones are MEGA bucks $$$$

Yup,Them F10"s are hard to beat. I grew up running one that was mounted on a TE-20 Ferguson and later we put it over on a TO-30. No power steering or live hydraulics. I didnt know what I was missing. Tractor was too lite to lift large round bales.

Be careful and have fun with your loaders. steveormary
