Hi Gang;
This is the English built Fordson N tractor from the 1940 era. Still has wide fenders but the top supports are now pressed steel, and the fronts cut away to save steel in wartime. The Fordson N accounted for 95% of all tractors on use in Britain during WW2.
The plough is a Ransomes fitted with extra long mold boards (bodies) which produce the "oat seed furrow" which is shallow & narrow and set up to a pointed top - the guy is hold one of the "boats" which are steel towed by a chain to form & press the furrow into the ^ shape. The furrows would be 8 inches wide & 4 inches deep. The reason for leaving the furrows with 2 sides exposed is that the frost can break down the soil over winter to assist making a seedbed in the spring.
Cheers David

And now I know more about plows. My son and I along with the grandaughter went to the plowing match in the U. K. last fall. It was interesting on how they do the match. J.
