I already own just about every IH book one can. Several CASE tractor books, and a few general tractor books.
I want to get a few books on John Deere covering only the 2 cylinder models up to 1960. Any books on M&M and Allis-Chalmers also. Can you gents recommend the best books on these makes? Thanks.

Brian

I would strongly recommend not getting "The Complete John Deere." Many factual errors, that even this novice John Deere fan found. Lots of pictures of shoddy restorations, and pictures that I've seen in other JD books. I'd give it a 3.5 out of 10. I would, however, recommend the "John Deere Tractor Data Book." Not much literature, and all black and white, but it has more information and statisitics than you can shake a stick at. Good luck.

Norm Swinford's book, "Allis-Chalmers Equipment 1914-1985" is recognized as probably the top authority on AC tractors and equipment.

I have a book called "John Deere Small Tractors," which I'm sure is similar. I like that one because it has little snippets of other tractor makes and how they compare to the JD being discussed.

Two John Deere books I like are "BIG GREEN" by Robert N. Pripps, and "Ultimate John Deere" by Ralph W. Sanders. The second one goes into the New Generation for about the last 20 pages. The first 180 pages are 2-cylinder. Both have lots of great pictures.

Another good one by Robert N. Pripps is "Illustrated Buyers Guide - John Deere Two Cylinder Tractor".
