I have found a f-20 propane. Does anyone know if this was factory or just a add on to this tractor? I dont know if its a 1939 model, but it also has a starter on it. I think the engine is stuck.

It'a conversion, I have a F-30 and F-20 that both run on Lp, they are what is called spud-in,where a hole is drilled in from the bottom of the carb.and a special fitting is screwed in with a load and idle circut, The 20 is a vapor only and the 30 has a water pump and will run liquid and has a J&S vaporizer. I think all parts on both tractors are J&S brand

Russ, Saw an ol F20 up in the Texas Panhandle a ywar or so ago. The tank is what really made it stand out. Not like any of the newer conversions, nor have I seen one since.
Carb, is a flat pancake style, sort of cobbled up out of the top porition of the gas carb and a LP bottom. No Vaporizor at all just a copper line running along side of the engine thho the front of the motor, then wraped around the front, then to the carb on the other side. Utilizeing the engine heat to vaporize the liquid in the copper line. Post some pics, with some detail, ASAP so we can see. Will be a neat conversion piece . Good Luck.
Later,
John A.

It's a conversion. And a rare one at that. I have been thinking about building one as I have never seen or heard of one. Would be interested in seeing yours or at least pictures. Please email me.

It is an add-on, the starter probably is too. I have an old picture of my sisters standing beside our F-30lp, loading hay into the barn. It had a tank that stood upright behind the axle.

Russ; I don't think they made an F-20 propane model, it's probably an add-on. Propane burns really clean, and I've seen engines run on propane torn down and they look clean as a brand new engine ! So.... if she ran on propane for any length of time, and the engine is stuck...could be very bad news !Proceed with caution. Jim B.
