Thanks Cowman and Bobducks, anyway I am posting my first picture on this site. I grew up using an 8N and these tracks. This picture was taken in 1986 with my tracks on my buddy's 8N. I am on the miss painted 600. We cleaned driveways for anti-freeze (not for the tractors).

My 240 was worthless in the snow with the Wagner loader mounted on the front. I found a guy who had a set of tracks that he took off an 8N and now I can go anywhere. Had to modify the brackets to fit my axles and turn the wheels dish out to clear th loader arms. I have the Blackhawk tracks with the rubber belting and a set of 21 inch wide ARPS with the steel links. Setup works great for plowing and discing also. That thing is like a little tank now.

It took about an hour. You have to take the fenders off then bolt the idlers to the rear axle. This was what we moved all the snow with on our ranch in the late 60's and early 70's. If you did not have the rear blade on you could usually crawl over about any drift. The rear blade would hang up in the snow and you were done. It would handle way more snow than one with chains. They were lots of fun, wish I had an 8N to put them on.

We had a guy in town that had half tracks on a Jubilee with a Ford loader on it. Man could he push snow. That was back when we had real winters in Mi.

Hey thanks for the answer. I've always thought they would be fun to have but my 8n has a front loader which would probably be in the way, and we don't usually have all that much snow.

So how easy were the tracks to install and take off? I've wondered how well they worked in the snow?
