Already have this dreaded urge to repair things. Floor mat, cab seal and steering wheel cap.

Probably ought to run 'er a month and make myself a list first? :>(

If you can get it to western NY I'm finnishing up a 1466 4wd so I'll have an empty bay soon. Im doing a motor on another 1066 and a 4wd on yet another 1066 so if you bring yours my whole shop will be filled with 1066's.

Cabs, no cabs-----I can remember my neighbor plowing so late in the fall that the plow wouldn't go in the ground (to much frost) Any way with his super 88 oliver diesel he would put on the heat houser, then the umbrella was next, then an old rug across the back of the heat houser , that was his cab. It wasn't fancy but it worked for him.

Allan: That seal between tractor hood and cab are a sign of something greater, that being the rubber mounts the cab sits on. When they get worn it lets the cab rock. I have seen these with holes worn through hood by the cab. Those rubbers being bad can also cause a lot of vibration. these cabs and the ones before them were really the pioneers of tractor cabs.

That ROPS cab like you have was actually quite quiet when new and would stay that way with a bit of maintainence each year. For seeing what your doing I actually liked the non ROPS before that one, but it could not keep out vibration as well as the ROPS cab. I had one of those on my 656.

Don't listen to those guys who say remove the cab. They apparently haven't sat out on an open tractor all day with the temperature hovering around 35F and a cold wind blowing. Like me your getting too old for that. In 1975 when I bought my 1066, my dad (then 64) another guy (61) plowed 250 acres and only let me do 5 of it. I was busy building a barn when they got started. I had left the tractor and plow where they couldn't resist. Once they got started, they told me they had plowed on cold open tractors for 40 years, this was their last kick at the can to plow in Oct. in shirt sleeves. The next year I put duals on 1066, after that I pulled the plow with 656, it had a cab but the old guys liked the big horse power. Kind of like I am 30 years later, if it hasn't got 350hp and 8 tires, I don't get excited.

Darned if I know.

They told me that the cab had been off of it when they overhauled the rear end. I just assumed that they forgot to put the seal back in or that maybe it was tore up so bad that it just wasn't worth the effort.

This tractor is gonna cost me money tho.

After driving this one, I realize I was right about that dam*ed 966. It has a "howl" in the rear end that I can hear at certain speeds; this one is quiet as a mouse.

So, 'spose the 966 has to go to the shop this winter. I just don't have the tools, jacks, hoists and so forth to be diggin' around with a ring gear/pinion.

Never ends, does it? :>(

You lost me , Allan. Which one has the cab? All the pics I remember you showing were cabless tractors.

That cab will feel good this winter. BTDT, and I don't even have cold winters(lately, anyway).
