Hi guys, I have an old Ford pickup truck. The magnet is broke in half in a few places and the window goes up slowly or not at all. The brushes seem OK, but magnet is broke.
If I somehow JB Weld that magnet back to together do you think the motor will work? Shoudl i spend $70 for new motor?
Thanks!

If the magnet is actually broke and not just broke loose then your only choice is gonna be to buy a new motor. Once the magnet breaks it's sorta like a mirror. When a mirror breaks each part becomes a completely different mirror and the same goes for the magnet, (if it's like all the others I've ever seen) each part becomes it's own complete magnet with N and S poles and there's no putting it back together. I just replaced the complete regulator assembly in my own F150 and it's not something I'd want to do several times to get right. Especially since you have to drill out the rivets holding everything and then need the big rivet gun (borrowed in my case) to put the new ones back in. One tip:and you may already know it since you already have the old motor out, but to remove the old rivets take a small diameter punch and drive the pull pin on through leaving a open hole in the center. Once you do this it's really easy to drill the rivets out. Good luck.

Look around for a used motor from a junk yard. 2 years ago I got a motor out of an early 90's s-10 to go on the spout on our Fox 3000. It had a different motor on it, but it was rusted tight after many years of not being used. I took it out myself (destroyed the door in the process) and paid $5-$10 for it.

I'd look for a used motor.

Had a few of those permanent magnet DC motor magnets come unglued. clean off the old glue on the magnet and housing, JB weld it back in place,it will work fine. Note,do not get that magnet in place backwards, they have N-S poles. Mark it with a felt tip pen before you remove it.
