Hi Billy,

Well, don't know if you'd call it "for sale" or not; but, I'd sure like to trade it for a diesel gear drive tho.

However, and just so we understand each other, I need a tractor that is in good enough shape to go to the field and work. Looks just aren't that important to me.

I need another one of these old dogs.

Speaking of that gas hydro....I was looking through a couple of my old red books the other night. On the fuel consumption listing I dont think there were any tractors listed that were as bad on fuel as the gas hydro. If I remember correctly there were about 20-30 worse than the gas gear drives.... We know Allen has the tractor sitting for sale cause gas prices are coming down. When he fires that thing up gas demand shoots through the roof...

Last I chased through the Nebraska Tractor tests book from 1950 to 1974 or there'bouts, two IH hydros took more fuel than my JD 4020 gas. Those three made the poorest fuel ecomony list. All the hydraulics on the three keep a load on the engine, but there's no vacuum advance to improve fuel economy at part throttle by advancing the spark.
