I bought a 94 F250 recently and was wondering what kind of mpg I might get.It has a 5.8 V8 351, 6 inch lift regular cab long box.

Would dual exuast get me better mpg and how much.

Would a turbocharger help and how much. Thanks

Just a little off here. I have a 1996 Explorer. It has the V6 4lt. engine and I love the vehicle. The engine dosen't use one drop of oil!I get 20/21mpg with it and have found that it is a VERY good idea to change the air filter when you do your 3000 mile oil chinge. The first air filter that cmae with it when I bought it last year was fine till about 15000 miles. It still looked good but was a little gray. Was costing about 2 or three miles per gallon by then! The air filter for mine is like $8.oo so just change it. I run the tires at 26psi. as per the door sill sticker. Jeffcat

A few years back I had a 1980 Pickup with a 460 cid. automatic and tuned it to get 17 MPG empty or loaded. First I removed the Ford carb that was on it and trashed it. Anybody notice Ford can not make a good carb? I found a Holly 750 and "tinkered" with it. Also advanced the valve timing. It already had dual exhaust so no changes there.

I had a 94 f350 crewcab dually 2 wheel drive. Driving gently on the highway empty I could get close to 16 mpg. Running errands around home I got about 12. It had the 5.8ltr. (351) with a 5 speed and I think 4.11 gears in the rear. Hope this helps. Mike

Seems most pickups that size get in the 12-15 mpg range. I don't think dual exhausts would help enough to be worth the extra cost. As for a turbo, would give more power when needed but I don,t think it would help mileage. Just my opinion though.
