Our natural gas supplier here In Colorado says home heat should be much cheaper this winter because of no huricanes...Huricanes????? There is a refinery 50 miles south in Denver and a refinery 50 mules north in Cheyene. Gas wells and oil well in all most every farm around here and so many gas lines running around the they have problems farming. And Oh yea, gasoline is still about $2.80 here in Greeley. Now I feel better..... ...

This is 2006 not 1806.
Oil is transported via pipe line for pennies a gallon.

Gas is a world market so just because the well is in your back yard does not mean you get a cheaper price. Ask anyone from La. or Tx.

I've been wondering that myself. Wyoming produces more gas than it uses, and has the lowest gas taxes in the nation and we're still at that 2.70 mark. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but maybe I just don't get it.

Hi Ken,

I was reading a report yesterday that stated there was a 12% increase in world oil reserves in July. I was thinking of buying some oil tanker stock but with that report that should keep the stock price down well into 2007 according to there charts. They stated there would be a small kick up in December and January but that's it.

Notice how the price of oil dropped in August, since we had a 12% reserve????? They gouged us another month before the price started down!!!

Chevron just hit a MEGA well in the Gulf the end of Aug making the reserve go up even more.

There was some thing about completing a pipe line, or another pipe line, to Calif for NG a couple of years ago. Befor that, we had cheap heat, Then it doubled in one go. Now we pay same as evey where else.

It used to be that there was a surplus of natural gas in this country, but that's no longer the case. Much of the new generation capacity is gas-fired, which has driven demand to the point that we now import gas from overseas. This fuel is brought in as liquified natural gas in huge tankers.

Since natural gas is easily shipped across the country in pipelines, having a gas field in your back yard doesn't guarantee cheap fuel. And companies are building new pipelines as fast as they can.

One thing I hadn't really thought about till I saw it the other day...

In New England that Yankee, Connecticut Yankee, Maine Yankee, and Millstone I nuclear plants have all closed...I thing combined they where somewhere around 2,000 Mw of power capacity.

And that's almost entirely been replaced by natural gas fired plants. Now we have a bottle neck problem between pipelines and LNG off-loading facilities during peak times...

Yeah last winters prices and hurricanes were just an excuse to gouge us more. Oil traders will find some other flim flam excuse to gouge us again if they can. Not all natural gas comes from the coast areas. Oil fields in TX panhandle areas are busiest they have been in years now. Gas is still $2.40s range here and pump in remote rural area was still $3.10 ! Not buying there!

Gasoline was 2.03.9 at Walmart this morning at Springfield, Mo this morning. Diesel was 2.55.9 at the truck stop in Sedalia, MO last night, I saw some at a couple of fast gas places for 2.49.9

Just heard a report of $1.96 in Osceola, Iowa. That is getting closer to a fair price, but still too high.
