A lot of things will factor in but 5-10 acres a day is in the ball park. We started chopping corn in 1950 with a WD Allis pulling a pto powered JD one row chopper. Given the corn crop we had, that tractor never got out of low gear and some of the time that magnificent hand clutch was used to slow the speed down and keep the power up. Figure 2.5 mph and 36" rows and that will cover 7.5 acres in a long day assuming the wagons show up on time. 6.25 acres in 30" rows. Hope this helps.

Yeah, that's a good guess. I've done 20 acres in a day with a 2 row and it was poor corn and an empty wagon was always waiting. Then I worked for one farmer-feedlot for several years. Good irrigated corn, just over 200 acres in half-mile rows and it would take us 21 days with a 2 row behind a 4440 JD. I cut a load evey 15 minutes and you could set your watch by it. 40 loads a day.

How good is the corn? Do you have help? What chopper are you thinking of and what are you going to hook it to power wise?
