Can anyone tell me why gas is now at $2.30 per gallon and diesel is still at $2.95-$3.00 range? Or is this another example of scre*ing the truck drivers and farmers?

End of summer and lots of gasoline in storage as less of the overpriced stuff was sold this summer becau$s people stayed home. From here on in the demand for kerosene, #1 & #2 diesel increases until spring time. Gasoline demand contimues decrease.

Here in west central Alabama Reg gas $2.47 9/10
Diesel is $2.89 &9
it's 13 miles from here to La Grange,GA and GA's feul tax is lower than our's. About 50% of our local product goes through there comeing out of Atlanta and prices here are about 10 cents cheaper. Our other 50% gets trucked from Montgomery and ours are about 10 cents less too.

Go figure.

It does not matter where it is trucked from but rather the destination. If it is loaded in Ala for delivery in Ga the tax is based on Ga tax.

Same thing applies when it is loaded in Doraville (Atlanta) with a destination of Ala. Ala tax is paid.

Go to www.oklahomacitygasprices.com and look at those prices. $2.18 to $2.21 all over for regular unleaded. Diesel runs about $2.65.

For the next several months diesel will be competing with home heating oil. They are both #2 distillate. The price is also staying up due to the new low supfur requirements by the gov't. This is a phase in - and will eventually include farm diesel. The only reason for the red dye is for tax purposes.

Akron, Canton Ohio area gas $2.28 to $2.40 per gal. for gas and Thursday I found on road diesel for $2.87 but most places continue to be $3.09 to $3.19 per gal for on road diesel. All these prices are as of Thursday. I just don"t beleave there is any reason that justifies the oil companies being able to bleed the working man as they do.

As I understand the problem with diesel, there's a bit of spot shortages going on as refiners are trying to convert to the low-sulfur diesel that's required for '97 and newer trucks.

As far as the gas prices, 8 miles away at the interstate they're still 2.49; around here, they're down to 2.41. So where's this $2.30 gas?

Diesel is down a little bit, here... I filled up today... It was $2.71/gallon. By comparison, Regular Unleaded gas is $2.35/gallon.. Bad thing is, usually Diesel goes up as heating oil season starts... That is soon...

Where is gas at $2.30 per gallon here in SE mich. it is at 2.50/gallon. I dont know why diesel is still high at $3.10/gallon but it is likely gouging..... .so what else is new. I would like to see gas get below $2/gallon and stay there for a while. The economy would get better if gas dropped.
