Hi Allan,
Was quite sad to read your post that the 1020 was so far away, and that you have decided that haulage back home will "kill the job".
Life is too short - you cant earn much money from investing it, get your wife her toy and have some fun with it.
Photo of my 36HP 920 which I have only owned for a couple of months and since we moved to Wales 5 weeks ago is in storage 150 miles away where we used to live - I really miss this little tractor.
You talk about the high cost of shipping, I bought a JD BR from Canada last December & shipped it home - cost more to ship than I dare tell my wife . But it was the tractor I wanted and I couldnt get a tidy one in England. Couldnt get my outlay back, but I have a tractor that I wanted for years. Im 56 years old, had a stroke 2 years ago, and alopecea last year - Im okay right now, but am enjoying my tractors and my hobby. Cant take the cash with you to the Pearly Gates.
I was told a while ago its better to have done something & regretted doing it, rather than sitting years later wishing you had done it.
Hope you dont mind me "advising" you on what to do with your life.
Best regards David

You are right! Life is too short not to enjoy the "trip". I am 52 yo and have taken seriously my family history, particularly preserving my grandfather's farm equipment that I could get my hands on. It is a cumpulsion that I love. It is all worthwhile when, like yesterday, my 3 year old son wants a ride on grandad's jd 70 and we slowly ride up the lane to the mailbox and back. I just drove in August 3000 miles to Colorado to retrieve another jd d that was my grandad's for a future project. Zig Ziglar said if you help other's get what they want in life, then you will get what you want in life, too.

Look on the photo ads for "1950 F12" from SD. Contact Doug, and ask him if Jimmy from Carolina is making a trip back here this fall. Jimmy runs an old Autocar w/ drop deck trailer, and comes back this way for a load of tractors / antiques. I'm sure he would haul anything you wanted at least this far.
Once again...just a thought.

Hey Allan. Try WISFARMER.com Comes out every Friday with new listings. Lots of used tractor ads from all over the upper midwest. Look at machinery ads too, because sometimes they will have the tractor you want listed with other machinery they have for sale. Also listings for Antiques. You'll find some tractor ads there.

I have just read Allan"s post about hauling the JD. I have only one experience using a hauler. John Michael Tel.417-350-3445 jmhaulsit@yahoo.com This worked well for me. David
