My wife and I purchased a new 4320 John Deere from a local dealer (still about 70 miles away)
The tractor had issues with the fuel gauge, right from the start, then a electrical connection proble then bad water pump OK no problem, warranty should cover it, it did, but not transportation to the dealer. We spent all our saving on the new tractor,we didn't think we needed to purchase a trailer to haul it for warranty work.

I work at one of the above mentioned companies (not John Deere) and the company that I work for pays for mileage on warranty work.

I would RESPECTIVLY complain to JD. Had a new backhoe that needed warranty work. JD picked up the TOTAL COST. My pickup was almost 80 miles each way. That didn't stop the dealer from trying to charge me for everything after they were already paid by JD. Called JD, they were not happy dealer was trying to rip me off. Dealer almost lost franchise.

Aloha, Sorry about your problems but warranty work (free transportation or mechanic coming to site) should have been worked out at the beginning before the purchase. Some dealers may offer that option and if they do, get it in writing (for future purchases). I would call around and and hire someone to do the hauling (make sure that person has all the insurances etc.)

Mahalo,

You might rent a rent a trailer to haul it in. It would be cheaper than buying one. What does the dealer want to come pick it up? that's also cheaper than buying a trailer and he can take all the liability for the transportation of the tractor.
It is aggravating to have to do some thing like this for something you bought brand new. You might try writing to the manuafacturerr and registering a complaint with them. It probably won't do much good but it'll make you feel better.

They get $97.00 each way.
when they pick it up they are also picking up other smaller lawn tractors at the same time. it pays well.

First I will say sumwere in the 23K you would think a towing allowance would be figgered in. It izz on a car are truck. Well tractors are not spose to be operated on the street so let talk ‘bout the haul’in charge. 97 to pic’it up and 97 to deliver would be a deal, but 97 X 4 $388.00 izz not git a trailer and buy 80 bucks on fuel and waste 6 hr of yer time. Next call customer service and ask about “GOODWILL” at the worst try and git a figger on hauling that would satisfy you, say $100 to pick up and deliver, good luck remember the squeaky wheel git’s the grease so iffin you do not squeal then ya aint’t gonna get enny attention.

Just FYI Case, Case/IH, Massey, Krone, Kubota, Cat and the list goes on will not pay travel time. All warranty work is done in the shop.

Well; knowing that, I would had purchased a cheaper tractor, like the ones you listed:)
I think my beef is, I didn't know up front.
This is the only tractor purchase that I probably will make. I use it to mow lawn and haul dirt it should last. It will out of warranty in November, so I hope all the problems are over.

Sorry to hear of your problems on your new tractor. Any thing used is going to have problems. As for the fuel guage, just use a stick to measure the level. After you use the tractor for a while you will soon learn how much fuel it uses in a day. See if the dealer will give you a water pump, and maybe some money to get someone in your area to change it. If you get the new water pump only. be happy. Stan

Sorry to hear you had trouble but tractors are a high maintenance machine. And a 4320 is certainly not "new" I'd say your option is to have it serviced locally.

That could be. So what's a guy do, have to haul it in to get something fixed that shouldn't be breaking? I guess I'm glad my tractors are old. I had a Ford diesel Powerstroke that had to be towed in a time or two. Then I traded for a gas job and it has over 100K and has never been in the shop.

Many dealers (not all) will give a free farm call early in the warranty period, but all of the factory warrantys say it's your responsibility to get the tractor to the dealer.
Expect NOTHING "free" from any tractor dealer.
