Hi.I just got this tractor today and managed to get it running real good after alot of work.As I was just about to park it for the day(in front of my garage doors,no doubt),the linkage pin to the clutch pedal fell out.Now I can not get the linkage to release the clutch,it seems that the linkage is not holding anything inside the transmission. Is there a trick to get the linkage to connect to the clutch inside the housing?I can not see inside with a flashlight and the linkage rod does not come all the way out, so that I can see how to hook it up.Please help me.Thanx.

I posted a complete sevice and parts manual for the VA series in PDF form. If you need it

be warned the service manual is 20 meg so if you are on dial-up internet service it will take all day to down load.
hope that helps

Thanx for all the info, people. It is really, really apreciated, and with such quick responses. This is the best place to get knowledgable info. I still can't get the rod to get into the slot for the throwout bearing-release bearing to release the clutch from the outside of the casing,as I cannot see inside.Does this mean that I will have to split the tractor?

The end of the the clutch pedal rod is conical and just nests in the socket of the throwout yoke. There really isn't anything keeping it from seating properly if you pull the rod straight back unless the throwout yoke pivot is adrift.

You need to make sure the clutch rod is in the indent of the throwout yoke....HTH

I tried and tried to get it back into the slot, but just can not seem to get it.Do you have to cross your eyeballs and hold your tongue a certain way?I can't see inside to get it into the right spot.Is there a trick to get it back into the slot?Thanx.

If it has pulled through the yoke then you have a wear problem. The rod can not be removed without spliting the tractor. It set in a tapered hole not a slot and can only be removed by pulling out the front on the bell housing.
