Can someone help? I recently had my Farmall Cub C-60 engine block boiled out for a new rebuild. The place that boiled it out removed four 1/8th inch plugs and returned them to me in a bag to put back in. Had I known this, I would've paid close attention to where all the plugs belong. When putting the engine back together I noticed a 3/8 inch plug missing in the front of the engine near the camshaft and timing gear. But they had not returned any other plugs with the engine.

Question: I now have no oil pressure reading at my gauge. Could they not have returned all the plugs that I needed? What am I missing? I know the gauge is not the problem. Do I need other plugs somewhere else? I am worried that I may have to tear the engine apart to replace the larger plug behind the gears at the front of the engine. I sure hope not! Thank you.

John, Started up the tractor and removed oil gauge , i had oil flowing out, just no pressure.I believe i am going to have to tear the engine down, remove the camshaft and plug the oil port hole behind it.Its alot of work but dont know what else to look for. Thanks alot Ed.

This comes up several times a year on the Farmall board. The most often neglected plug is the one in the tappet chamber. Pull the stamped plate behind the carb. At the center of that opening between two tappet bores you will see the hole. The next neglected hole is by the camshaft at the front. It will be alot of work to replace that one. Can't remember if the back of the block is drilled but should be easy to find. It will be near the camshaft. The other holes are external. One near oil filter. The other is lower right side of block near bell housing flange.

Do not start a Cub, or any engine, without pressure testing oil galleries with oil.

Did you prime the pump? When one has been rebuilt the oi; pump won't usually pikc up oil unless it is primed. remove the oil filter cover and squirt oil into the opneing near the front. Crank it over with starter to make sure oil starts flowing form the hoke. If no flow, pump more oil in.

John

Priming the pump never crossed my mind although I know better. Thank you for reminding me. I shall try in the morning and gladly let you know if this is what the problem was.

Thank you very much!
Ed
