11 year old son was driving mini 4 wheeler when it just quit on him. Checked gas, switch, all the obvious stuff, when cranking it over it didnt sound right almost like the spark plug was loose.checked plug it was ok.when i went to check to see if the choke somehow got closed i saw the carb was no longer connected to the intake manifold, both mounting bolts were completely gone.couldnt figure out how it kept running that long with no bolts holding it on.only thing i can think of is the carb gasket must have been stuck to the mounting surfaces and after both bolts vibrated out it eventually broke free.either that or the suction kept it on until he let up on the gas.ever hear of anything like happening.put two new bolts and lockwashers in and away he went. bill m.

Oh yeah those bolts for carbs and manifolds need to checked and tightened some onece in a while. Wait till your lawn mower with the B&S quits and you find the little pipe that slides into the carb with a o ring connection okay but under the air shroud cover the little pipe has the bolts missing or loose letting dirt and crud into the motor. I've done had 2 ruined because of that design and wonder what they were thinking there?

The in-line six cylinder engines in older Ford trucks had a nasty habit of loosening up that way. Never saw one where the carb fell completely off but worked on several where you could finish taking off the nuts with your fingers, no wrenches required.

SAW same with 6 cyl. inline Chevy engine once. Just lifted the carb off by hand!
