I have read a few post on this site about adding a lubricant if you are using road diesel in an old tractor. I have 504 Farmall that I use about 30 hours per year for brush hogging so I end up just buying fuel at the pump. I have seen people recommend ATF and 2 stroke oil. Are these the best choices? How much do you add? Does using a soy diesel blend help? I think most of the soy diesel I see is 2%. Thanks for the help.

I know a pup that uses two-stroke "skidoo" oil to help save the pump on his VP-44-pumped 2001 Cummins. I myself use Power Service and/or Marvel Mystery Oil which are rated my the manufacturer for use in Diesels. I like the Power Service the best.

I use Power Service. I also use the blended Diesel and I havent had any problems with it. And I always use no 1 in the winter to prevent geling.

Power service always seemed pretty good to me. I'd run a jug through one of my older trucks once and awhile and I told my wife it was like jet fuel. Sure seemed to perk the old truck up.

Put in a DIESEL FUEL ADDITIVE! ATF is called ATF because it goes in automatic transmissions. There are lots of good fuel additives out there, so why use some homebrew?
