It is not a pump but a pressure actuated fuel shut off. Open when running and engine builds oil pressure, closed when engine off and no pressure. There is a knob on top, to manually open to fill the carb when needed

Lawn and garden model 70? Field tractor model 70 in propane, gasoline, all-fuel or diesel? We can't read minds. Fuel is controled by oil on some of the later 70 field tractors.

Re: pump, fix it right or wish you did in reply to chad d drane, 08-29-2006 19:39:47
Rather than doing a farmer fix and disabling two safety systems. Just purchase a couple of cheap diaphrams and a valve/seat from Mother Deere. Low oil pressure shuts the engine down to save it should the operator run her low. The low oil pressure shut off just about eliminates finding the gas tank empty and the crankcase full of gasoline. Should the carb needle/seat seap a little of get some dirt stuck in it.
