hi folks i have aquired several wooden silos with the intent of putting up a small one by my barn. I want to sell the excess boards they are 2x6 tounge and groove. I am in the lumber/sawmill buisness but was wondering what these would be worth as this is different than green lumber they are used.

We had a wooden Silo at home in the 50's that was built of Redwood tongue and grooved boards. My dad and others tore it down and used the boards as fence boards around the bull Pens.

First it will depend on what kind of wood it is. Look on the internet to see what the kind of wood you have is going for per board feet. What condition is the wood in, will it need planed? Where are you located at, maybe there is local demand for what you have.

I bought my grandfathers silo to use far building projects on the farm. He said that he had bought Oregan cypress thirty foot one piece staves, and put it up in 1921. And that the cypress was rot resisent. Not even the ends were rotten.
Later I bought another silo with sixteen foot staves, I think fur. I had to cut the ends off of them. That cypress is good wood. Who knows what you have.

Back in athe 50's Grandpa built an open front machine shed out of the staves from a wooden silo. Stood for a lot of years.
