Went to TSC the other day to get a few things. Very poor selection of implement tires. Also needed some parts for a rake and sickle bar mower, out of stock. And the only had 1 SMV sign!? I wish Rural King would open a branch near me, much better selection I think.

I think we all miss Quality Farm and Fleet.TSC bought the local location in this upscale suburban area, but with a very loyal ag customer base as well. Quality store had 4 cashiers and at least 3 were about always maned. The very first thing TSC did was go down to 2 checkouts with usually only 1 cashier.I told the new TSC management that the customers in this location would not stay with them if they had to wait in line that long the 1 or 2 checkouts required. The parking lot was about always full when it was Quality. Now it is a rarity to see more than 6 or 8 cars in the parking lot.I think most old time customers have gone across the street to Lowes. I used to go to Quality as a first choice, now TSC is my last choice .I have better things to do than stand in line all day. TSC simply doesn't understand merchandizing or customer needs very well.

My Farm and Fleet in Sterling, IL is alive and well. Don't get there much 'cause it's about a half-hour away, but I usually stroll around for an hour or so. Just like the women do at those department stores.

I too miss them. They were headquartered 10 miles from my house in Muskegon, Michigan. It was a real success story that grew large and had a great store. They got thinking that they could get bigger and the aquisition plan was the way to get there overnight.

I bought my house from a guy who was the regional sales manager and they moved him and his family to Colorado to manage the stores out there. After they went belly-up I got some calls from creditors looking for him. Sounded like he got in deep financial trouble as well.

I live eight miles from the new Fleet & Farm store in Appleton Wi. The old store was decent but, the new store is great. Other than groceries, it about the only store I need. Just wish that they would have built the new store out of that moron inhabited town.

I had a store manager put it to me this way once, very honest but very sad. The store manager said theat everything is a day or week away. I can have it here in a day or at most mondy on the truck shippment that comes weekly. The internet and chinse products have made competition very stiff esp with some websites offering free shipping. Therefore, profit margins on some items are only a few cents. If you have a lot of stock and dont sell the product, the store doesnt look very profitable and you have all this money tied up in stock. Instead, a customer walks intells us what he wants we order it, he picks it up and pays for it we have our mooney right away and no money tied up in stock. Let the supplier sit on the merchandice instead of the store. Many managers are paid on profitability and dont give 2 hoots about customer satisfaction or customer happiness. And the world ahs gotton so small, most parts are only a day a way, seems anytime i go get parts they dont have it but will have it by 3pm tomorrow. I know the transam autoparts store i buy truck parts at run to chicago everday at noon and chances are their supplier has it or will have it by the next day. If a company stocks up on say 100 rain caps and only sells 50 he has a lot of money on stock but of an item he may only make a few scents profit on each sale. It is easier to say sorry were sold out order one and say next time your in town itll be here, its not right but the way of the world forget the customer lets make money

I also miss Farm and Fleet, I have a TSC in Richmond Indiana, they just built a new store there, to replace the old store, which seemed to never have what I wanted, in stock. Tried for 4 weeks to get a 2 inch rain cap, and never got one there. There is also a TSC in Eaton Ohio, 12 miles from the Richmond store, The Eaton Ohio store is sooooo much better stocked, and the prices are cheaper, seriously. I bought a new WonderCoal stove last fall, it was $599.99 in Richmond, and $499.99 in Eaton Ohio, needless to say, I bought it in Eaton. I priced Valspar paint in both stores, $4.00 a gallon cheaper in Eaton. TSC needs to wake up, or the will go the way that Farm and Fleet went, outta business.

that is exactly the problem I have at the TSC store near me, they are a complete joke, nothing is in stock that I need, they never know when they will get it in. I have complained to the manager and she said that the sales are at a all time high - yeah, I guess they are at an all time high selling garden hoses and sprinklers - the Howell, Michigan store is worthless.

I have 2 TSC and 1 Rural King all about the same distance from me. It still seems like when I need something even at all 3 I just find an empty spot on the shelf where they were.

I live in Wisconsin and depending on the area you live you may have "Farm and Fleet" or "Fleet Farm". I currenly live near a Fleet Farm and that is a great store. I used to work only about a 1/4 mile away from the store and on my lunch hour if the weather was nice I would take a walk and wonder around the store.

They're talking about a different store(s). Theirs (I think) went through bankrupcy a while back. But thank God for Fleet Farm. Aren't they great? "If you can't get it at Fleet Farm you don't need it" is a popular saying around here. They opened a new store in Appleton. Have you been there? It's bigger than Home Depot or Menard's, which are just down the road.

Farm & Fleet...the leader in price and quality for over thirty years. What a great store! Where else can you get a 5.50-16 triple rib tube tire and a Sunbeam toaster oven! It's my favorite place to pick up girls!

My local TSC, which sells but does not install/mount tires usually has a selection of 3 rib 6.5x15 front tractor, and 9.5L through 11L-15 implement tires.

They have a fair number of SMV signs, in at least 3 different styles.

I have not known them to ever be out of rake teeth, scickle sections snf gaurds either. They are NOT really a "TRACTOR" supply store however. What they are selling to is suburbanites and "horsey" people who tend to live on small to medium sized acreages.

They are a vendor of horsefeed, lawn tractors, hardware store stuff, and a small selection of aftermarket ag parts.
