Hi gang;
This a Fordson KFD68 Major - its the orchard conversion of the "normal" Fordson Diesel Major which were made by Stormont Engineering (a Fordson tractor dealer in Kent south east England).
They built some 400 from 1952 to 1957. The tractor has cast non-adjustable swept back front axle which gives smaller turning circle. The rear wheels are 28 inch (instead of 36 inch) which lowers the height.
Used in orchards and on hilly land where the lower height made them more stable.
Done some research and there are less than 40 still in existance to-day.
Next photo shows what its like now.
Cheers David

There is nothing wrong with a good challenge. My friend is trying to talk me into buying a fordson to restore.

I spent many hours on a Diesel Major in my youth. It is still, I think, my favorite tractor. Good luck with your new acquisition.
