I have a long backhoe attachment model 1199a. I need information on what size of external pump(pto) to apply to it ie gallons per minute and what psi the pump will have to deliver to run the hoe at a tolerable speed. I know most hook up to the tractor hydraulic system however I have a ford 2000 and the wet system line kit is expensive and the pump may not be strong enough to move the hoe. Has anyone got the spec"s for this model of hoe or a simular hoe for reference? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Your ford 2000 will have plenty of psi to run the hoe. It just won't have the volume. Most any pto pump that puts out 12 gpm or more will do. Most Long back hoe usually have a frame reservoir for your hyd oil. I have seen some older units that did not however. It will be important to install a pick up screen and a filter when connecting a pump to the unit. You may want to consider mounting the hoe on a sub frame rather than on the 3 point. They can be a bit much for a Ford 2000.

Thanks geok,
I and not sure what a sub frame would look like but I assume it would make the hoe more stable. Well I m off to the pump store to look for a suitable pump. Thanks again for the info.
