Its at about 35-40% moisture with the dew that cant get burnt off.The sun isnt breaking through and rain is about 6 hr away.It about 8acre of red clover, pretty good stuff and I hate to lose it.I cut sat morning, tedded yesterday morn and didnt sleep a wink last night.Anyways, should I go ahead and windrow or leave it tedded out?I am ready to jump in and bale it at a higher moisture by cranking up the persavative, but even tho I use an accumulater it still takes time to get it up.Theres prolly 650 bales.Really dont know what to do,take a chance and get caught in the rain with bales on the ground, baled at a higher moisture(persavative=$),or leave it and see how much rain we get.Plus I could bale, get crappy bales in the barn and only get a spit of rain. This hobby has its ups and downs.Sorry for the rant...I guess my question for you more experienced is rake or not.

I know I am a little late to be of much help. You gotta look at it on the bright side. There is a 40% chance it will not get rained on and better than 50|50 the weatherman is wrong. So the odds are in your favor. We have baled red clover a little on the green side then salted it down as we stacked it in the barn. Cows loved it.

I'd wait. Just made 700 bales of clover/grass (70/30) myself. Some of the best I have ever made. Seems I am always fighting stem moisture in clover. Really bad when the humidity is up. Takes forever to get ready. If it seems to wet now just wait a day or so after you bale it. I have had it come out black as a used motor oil and hard as a brick. It tested 15-18% baling and a day later was above 30%. Cows don't seem to mind. But I doubt you could sell it.

Like others have said, I'd rather put up low(er) quailty hay than moldy wet hay (junk).

If it aint dry enough, its could rain at any moment. I would leave it sit as is and see what the weather does. If it rains then clears up to a nice drying day or 2 youll be ok. I myself would not want the chance or having 650 moldy heating bales. I wouyld rather have 65 good bales that happened to get rained on a bit. Just my opinion. Good luck
