AFTER BUSH HOGGING FOR SEVERAL HOURS, THE TRACTOR STOPPED PULLING AND THE PTO STOPPED WORKING. I CHECKED THE FLUID (@ 1/2 INCH PIPE PLUG ON LOWER RIGHT SIDE OF TRANSMISSION). I LOOKED IN THE MANUAL, BUT IT WAS NOT MUCH HELP WITH TROUBLE SHOOTING. IT APPEARS YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE TRANSMISSION COVER OFF TO CHECK THE FILTER. I'VE HEARD ALOT OF BAD THINGS ABOUT THESE TRANSMISSIONS, HOWEVER, I'VE PUT ABOUT 20 HRS ON THE TRACTOR WITHOUT PROBLEMS. ALSO, NO ONE IN THIS AREA SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT TYPE OF TRANSMISSION FLUID THESE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS USE. CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH THESE ISSUES?

Check for servo press on anyone of the servo test ports. No pressure could be the torque limiter hub , or the splines on the input shaft. Also common cause of sudden press loss is a broked main tube from pump to dist houseing. Any of these problems require a split behind the engine.

The correct fluid is Ford 134, which is universal Hydraulic fluid. The top cover has to be removed to change the filter. A pressure check is needed. It is possible that the torque limiter or the spline on the input shaft is bad.

DON'T MESS WITH ANY OF THE BANDS, UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!

i beleive there are 3 transmission bands that can be adjusted. the first band is near the inching pedal and has a lock nut. tru cranking on it to see if you get anything out of it. I will have to go in the shop and look in my books to see what fluid. But this trans requires alout of pressue checks.
