I have a 1963 JD 2010 tractor. I"ve owned it for two months. The hydraulic"s has been acting up the past couple days. I"ve been pushing off a hedge row with my blade. It works fine for 30 minutes, then it want lift the blade at all. If I turn the tractor off for about five minutes the hydraulic"s works. It also makes a noise when I try lifting the blade.
Then the same thing over again. Could this be the hydraulic filter needs changing. Any help would be appreseated
Thanks,
Farmer J

Sorry but you should have asked here or in the JD section of this site aboyt 2010's before purchasing one. Hydraulics were just one of thier problems. It's possible the oil is getitng hot and thin and the system can't build pressure.

Is there anything I can do. Should I change the hydraulic fluid. Do you think that would help.
Thanks,
Farmer J

I had a 2010. Change the hydraulic-transmission oil. There is a wire mesh filter at the bottom of the transmision case on the right side of the tractor behind a flat plate held in place by 3 or 4 bolts. Plan to change that filter, which is a little expensive. On later hyd. oil changes you can probably just wash and blow out the filter, but after a while it will need replacing again. Keep the tractor sheltered or covered, since the hyd. system does not like moisture. I did not have trouble with the 3ph so I don't know if you are likely to have control valve issues. Good luck.

Thanks again for the advice. I drained the fluid last night and removed the wire filter. It was stopped up! I washed it out real good, it looked like new when I finished. I went this morning and got the hydraulic fluid. Brian, at the JD store said that I didn"t need a new filter. I went ahead and changed the fluid in the pto and the final drives. I changed the engine oil and filter too.
You were right! It works fine now.
Thanks again,
Farmer J
