I"ve found a IH 424 with a loader (down pressure), power steering, good tires, decent paint, a few drips but none real bad, rebuilt motor 5 years ago and it"s had the same owner for the last 22 years for $3500.

Anyhow, my questions are...
1. Is this a good deal?
2. Regarding the pto pump, it"s got a pass through splined female shaft. Do they make some sort of adapter to run a bushhog or is it best just to take the pump of when hogging?

The 424 is sort of a lost child in the US, being a british design, but I love mine. My 424D has two built in hydralic outputs on it, controlled by two levers on the left side, below the seat. maybe it was optional? I don't know. Is yours like that? If it is standard, I don't know why it would need a pto driven pump unless the built in pump didn;t work??? I have read that they were a pain to stear if they didn;t have power steering, especially with a loader. I don't know what a fair price is, I put mine together from two windrow tractors. G
