Dachshund, Fence ?s are just like, which oil is best? And like the ones the Redneck Comedy Tour....I Belive,,,,,I Belive.....You already know the answer to your ? before you asked it! I Would Not use A Wood Post as part of a H-Brace. Not under any circumstances! You are going to the trouble to put in new heavy corner post use the pipe as the cross member. Only Rookies use a wood cross center member in this country. In 5 yrs it will fall out, and the fence will slack, Period. Just drive around the roads and look at the somewhat new fences that are slack and the H-brace has slipped out I will probably incur the Rath of a thousand mad farmers who have use wood all their lives and haven't lost one yet. Most guys have gone the all steel pipe corners all welded together. Most post are 3.5 to 4.5 ft in the ground, concreted in with 2 bags of sacrete. Go get some pipe at a salvage yard, your scrap pile, you will be more happy with it and satisfied too. 2 3/8 pipe can be all day long for $1.50. ft. or less. So if you need 4, 6ft section it will be less than $40 for all ot it. So as I said above, Don't shoot yourself in the foot by short changeing yourself on such a critical, but often overlooked part of your fence. Later, John A.
