Our local club here was notified last fall of a fellow by the name of Carl Hiebert who is an author confined to a wheelchair after an accident some years ago. This spring/summer, he was scheduled to cross Canada from west to east coasts driving a modified W4 tractor and he was visiting farm families along the way as a basis for a new book which he is writing. He was to have a motorhome accompany him on the tour. Some of our club members arranged overnight stopping accomodations in 3 places in Alberta for him in early June. Nobody has seen or heard from him and we aren't really sure if the trip ever got off the ground. Has anyone seen him or heard about the trip? We'd sure like to know just to satisfy our curiosity more than anything. I have emailed him at his last known email address but so far he hasn't responded.

Hi Mike,

We were the first stop for him at our Richmond cranberry farm (last week in May).Actually he came to us the day befor he started driving because he didn"t want to drive the tractor through the Massy Tunnel or over the Alex Fraser Bridge.

He and his wife spent the better part of the morning with my family interviewing us and taking pictures.

Later that week I talked the chicken farmer who was his second stop. He said he was pretty tired, 6-7hours a day on an old tractor in hi gear on the highway.

By the way Carl is a parapligic from a ultrlite accident 20 years ago. Very interesting guy.

I"ll try to find his website later and see if there is an update.

Grant
