My 4400 ind. is set up for category one: it has (interchangeable) 7/8 lower arm balls. The top link connection, however, is quite a bit lower than the previous 800's I've owned. I ended up moving the stay chains mower end to a set of lower holes to maintain a better lifting angle. The tractor manual says it can be set up for cat. 1 or 2. I'm happy with it as is and want to put a quick hitch on it, which is a bit of an investment. Should I get the quick hitch and forget about it or are there advantages to a cat. 2 set-up I should consider first?

The main advantage of going up a Cat. is that you would be able to run both Cat 1 and Cat2 impliments on the same tractor. However if I had to choose between a Cat upgrade and a quick hitch, I'd take the quick hitch.

Some implements such as 3ph disc mowers, at least the 8 ft models, have only cat 2 pins, so I would base my decision on what implements you will be using.

About the only differance in the cat 2 from the cat 1 is the fact its made to handle more power. Other then that they both work the same way but the bigger pins of the cat 2 will take a lot more HP to brake them then the cat 1 will
