The WD was 34.63 hp and the WD45 was 43,21 hp at the belt. The Wd had a 201 cu in eb=ngine and the WD45 has a 226, The diferance was the WD45 ha a 4.5 inch stoke which was .5 longer than th WD. production of thWD wa 1948-53 and the Wd45 was 1953-55. There are a lot of these tractoe which have had the engines replace with on from the other. A quck way to tell is that the WD engine had a plate bolted to the side od the block and the 45 did not.

Well the WD had a smaller engine which can be I.D. by by plate on the right side of the engine. On the WD45 there is no plate on the right side of the engine. Also the trannys are differant and the WD has a stright shifter till the last year or so and the WD45 had a curved shifter. Either engine will botl up in either tractor and thye will also bolt in to the WCs. The WD by the NEB test was around 34HP and the WD45 was around 43HP

The last few months of WD and all WD-45 had a transmission with helical gears for better quiet. Distinguished by a curved gear shift.

The WD-45 engine has a bigger displacment and a few more ponies.
