Gee, learned something new today! People will always find ways to get an edge or "beat the system". Ever been outbid on sometime at the last second, with no chance to up your bid? There is now free software available on the internet that will automatically bid for you at whatever specified time you desire, right up to the last second! It's called auction sniping. Check out website: www.auctionstealer.com

Here is the way I see it, you find a set of fenders for your ole tractor and decide they are worth $100. You bid a max of $100 two days before the end of auction and meanwhile someone else bids a max of $150 you get out bid... whether the other bidder bids two minutes after you or two seconds before end of auction. You would just end up paying over $150 for those fenders if the other bidder bid just after you and you decide to WIN and outbid them. Now those previously decided $100 fenders are costing you $150+. See my point? Doesn't matter when you bid but how much you bid.

Saw a bid the other day that was entered with one second to go. Dont't let those guys get to you. If you want an item, figure out what it is worth to you and bid that amount, either now or with snipe. If it goes lower you get it at the lower price. If you loose out, you did your best and won't feel bad. don't set there and keep uping your bid (like a normal auction) ---you'll just loose most every time and feel bad.

I don't know, my advice it "bid early and bid high" I sell a lot of parts on eBay because it gives eveyone a chance at one-of-a-kind items. I expect to get top dollar not some bargain-bin give-away. If eBay gets to where no one will bid, I will quit using their service and pocket that several hundred dolars a month I have been giving them. And here's another thing. I have pulled items when after 4 or 5 days they still have 0 bids, I figure nobody wants it and I don't want to give it away the last minute.
So there is eBay from a sellers point of veiw.

You've hit on one of my pet peeves- last second sniping. Why not make it a real auction? Item ends at 4:24.34 on Friday, or 10 minutes after last bid, whichever is later. That way seller gets the maximum price, eBay get the maximum commission, and I don't have to play games with some yahoo who has nothing better to do. If I were trying to make a living at selling on eBay, I would be lobbying them to change the rules so its a legitimate means of commerce, not a computer game.

Nebraska Cowman; I was on ebay the other day and was looking for any of your items. Never did find any I thought related to you. What ID do you use there? Bob

Bob, what a joke! I just tried to do a search for my ebay store. Finally found I had to check the box "search for store name only" Then it came up. Seems light eBay searchs are not always what one would expect.

Yep, those company's have been around for some time. Most charge 1% of a winning bid for the service. I use Auction Sniper myself from time to time.
