This is my great grandfather. His name was Jack and he was a farmer. Kind of a neat picture, like something you'd see in Saturday Evening Post. Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing the picture, it will give me something good to think about tonight!

That is his information chair just like our computer chair. Notice all the newspapers in the holder and getting info from the radio.

In my mind that is the way I picture people when Orson Wells "War Of The Worlds" was being broadcast. Great picture.

I can remember doing that before tv came out. Used to listen to the news about the war with my parents and then Terry and the Pirates, Captian Midnight, Sarg Preston and Yukon King, and The Lone Ranger. Even remember the times.Sky King was in there too before he went ot tv. Wow that was 58 years ago.

Hey Bill I will be 65 in Nov. I still drive a truck at night. I have a xmradio and they play some of those old programs on Old Time Radio, Gunsmoke, Have Gun Will Travel, Dragnet, Richard Diamond, Sgt. Preston, etc. I go to the web site and can print out what will be on each week and when. Sky King, Sgt Preston, Jack Armstrong were my favorets when I was a kid.

Yeas, EXCELLENT photo! Cherish it forever!
On a lighter note - he kinda reminds me of "Uncle Charlie" (William Demerest) on "My Three Sons".

Is that radio a "airline" sold by monkey wards and battery operated? 2 "B" batteries and 1 "A" battery. It the right size to be like the one we had.

I wish i knew more about that picture, all it says on the back is Grandpa Jack Brauhn. It's matted nicely on a piece of black cardboard though. My parents got it from my late grandpa's house.

Cheerish that picture. in reply to in-too-deep, 07-30-2006 12:56:02
That picture is priceless. Even to someone like me that has no idea who Jack was.

That had to be really something to be able to listen to news just a day old, or even maybe a few hours.

And two hours later, he was probably grumbling...

"Darn Weathermen never get the forecast right!"

:)

Great photo, by the way!
