Anybody ever burn beech for firewood?Have been offerred some down beech wood for free,just wondering if its worth the effort.

Makes for excellent cutting boards, also wooden kitchen utensils if you split off some thin shims.

Good hot fire, but make certain you have a good hydraulic splitter, or a teenager you're wanting to run off, else it'll work you to death. As mentioned, make sure it's completely dried.

I burned beech in my fireplace and in the woodstove for years. My friend cut timber for a living and then I came along behind him and cut up the tops. It burned great and put off good heat. Just make darn sure it"s good and dry!!
