Since I don't know any computer wizard forums I have to ask my tractor buddies. I bought a new 17 inch monitor and changed my screen reselution to the larger 1024X768 pixels but the window is slightly off the screen and I can't seem to fix it. My scroolbar is mostly hidden and the extreem left of emails are out of sight too. I tried changing the monitor settings and can make it worse but not better. Seems like it is set as small as it will go. Will I have to go back to the lower reselution or just live with it?

The monitor should have a way to adjust the size and position of the display. There should be a couple of little buttons or knobs somewhere, maybe behind a panel or door you have to open.

Yeah, I've tried that. Can't get it any smaller. I finally got the correct driver manualy installed but it didn't change a thing. I'm back on 600X800 resolution and sick of fighting it.

You may be using the driver for your old monitor. Go to start, settings, control panel, system, hardware, monitors, and select your monitor from the list. Left click on the monitor from the list and a screen will pop up. Click on the "Driver tab" and then click on "Update driver". Depending on the operating system that you have, 98, XP, or other you may have to load the driver from a disk that you got with the monitor. It is however best to use the Microsoft assigned driver.

There are two possible places to fix it. Some new monitors come with software to adjust them with the computer. Most also have adjustments on the console that put menues on the screen, or buttons with obscure labels that do more than one thing after pushing a different button. Size will shrink either horiz. or vert. position will move the pic left right up down. Pincushion will straighten the edges from bowing. Trapezoid will make it square. It should have all of these. and a button to put it bach to factory settings if it gets wierd from tweaking. Good luck, JimN

Well I'm up short. There are 2 CD drives on this machine and both of them seem to be corrupted to the point I can't open anything. I gave up and set up my old computer to run my parts CDs. I guess I need a repairman.

Get on another computer and note exactly how and which keystrokes it takes to achieve what you desire.

It starts with a right click and choose properties.

then by using the tab key and the arrow keys you can refine your notes so you can walk right through the process blind, resizing your resolution.

Like as an example and not correct
tab
tab right
down
tab tab enter
