Hello, I have a 1949 RTI and would like to know how to convert to 12 volt, specifically do I need to change the starter solenoid? to a 12 volt one, and do I Keep it Positive Ground? Thanks!

If you're going to use an alternator it will be negative - grounded. If this is battery ignition
with a distributor you will need to use a ballast resistor between the ignition switch and the coil
to drop the voltage to 6 volts. If you go to neg
ground your coil needs to have the coil wire from the - Neg terminal on the coil to the distributor.
The light bulbs would need to be changed too. If your solenoid feeds voltage to the ignition switch it probably would need to be changed. Hal
