Welllll, after much gnashing of teeth this thing is -still- not able to idle good and run well below about 2000 rpm, even after fixing the vacuum leaks. New Idle Air Control valve. TPS checkes good with proper voltage. I've got a 412 code, Rpms can't be controlled, and am wodering if the PCM(computer) is whacked. But, it doesn't set a code, only during the KOER test does it show up. It does run good above about 2000 rpm. Any ideas? Thanks!

Thanks fellas! I appreciate the effort! Allen, that blasted rubber band caught my eye too, but it runs too good above ~1700 rpm to be off. you, it does 'seem' to start a little better when warm but it still won't idle and the exhaust seems to be flowing good. steve, I agree, but as I found out, the non-california escorts did not have one. IF this thing ever gets better, I'll post what happened. Thanks again!

Might look at the EGR control side. My 96 Ford PU had drivability problems and turned out being the tranducer that determines EGR flow. Funny thing was, fixing that also turned out the CEL and dropped the O2 sensor code that had been in there for years. Try pulling the vacumn tube off the EGR and see if low/mid speed operation improves.
