I am going to quit my night job anyway. Now I will be able to devote more of my time to my mowing and discing business, and might get time to restore my Dad's F 12, and even go for a ride on my motorcycles. The company I have worked for the last 36 years is moving, and I decided I didn't want to drive 65 miles to work every day. Anyway at 64 it was getting harder to work the 2nd shift, and get up at 7 in the morning to do my mowing. Stan

I quit working at 62 after 40 years as a union construction electrician. I only wish not that I had retired after 30 years. Wouldn't be getting as much retirement money but I know darn well that I'd be worth more overall and in better health. If there's any possibility that you can get out early and still make it, do it. You won't be sorry.

Congratulations Stan! I used to have a neighbor when I owned in Illinois, Marge that worked for GM's Electrimotive for about as long. She started a little business on the side too, a hobby of hers...pottery. She never intended the business to take off like it did, but it became so fulltime, and she liked it so much that she had to retire from Electrimotive because it was getting in the way of her making a fantastic income, as a high paying union job with excellent benefits. My point Stan, you never know how these things work out...hopefully excellent and lucrative by accident. Much good luck and happiness to you.

Mark

Glad to hear you are going to take it easy...dont overdue it. A friend of mine has a neighbor that was 65, he was a go getter. On 7-3 he laid down to take a nap and didnt wake up.... heart attack.

Good Deal! Hope you have an enjoyable "retirement." I hope to retire soon also, but with my promotion to E-7, I'll have to stay another three (at least two) years in order to recieve the E-7 retirement pay. Hope you enjoy yourself and don't overdue it or work too hard.

Jim

Crusader; If you have your 20 in take the retirement. I made E8, got a remote and retired. Never regretted it. Kids were getting into teens, Mom was tired of a gone again husband and I was tired of seperations. Had just over 9 years apart in the 18 married years of my career. There is life after the military and you have done your part. Enjoy life now. Oh, in a seperation de-briefing (my wife was there) they told us our life expectancy after retirement. At my age it was ll years. Retired in 81 and still going. lol Bob

Congradulation on making it to chief. I passed the Navy's E 5 test. but would have had to extend my service time, and go to Adak Alaska for 6 mo. I said so long. that was back in the 60's Stan
