I was out cutting hay with my 461 NH MOCO, when about half done the rolls quit. I though it might have a shear bolt but I got to looking and it seems to be a slip clutch, and the last guy tack welded it in place.. had about 5 welds on it.. and they gave out.. so should I re-weld it? or am I wrong, and there is a shear bolt? I still have half the feild to cut, SO PLEASE HELP!
THANKS A TON! Tim Shultz

Tim,
Had the same thing with my 461 yesturday, got into some real heavy stuff,, stopped it dead. Slip clutch was smokin. tightend springs on slip clutch and let it cool down.. dropped a gear on the 3020 and just putted along. never had a problem after that.
This worked for me,,, maybe??

how do you tighten the springs? I looked for somthing to tighten but it seems he (the last guy) tore the thing apart, took the springs out and just welded it togather! thanks for the help!

OH boy,,,,
mine has tension springs all around the slip clutch. just like the bailer. I'm sure its not the "right" thing to do,,, but if it worked before with it weled.... guess i would try rewelding it back up, get your cutting done, then make a trip to your local NH dealer. I was very surprised as to just how many parts are still available for a 461. just my thoughts.
good luck hope all goes for ya!!!!

thats what I though.. I know I can get the parts, but how much is a new slip clutch going to cost me? I only payed 250 bucks for the darn thing.. hate to put a 200 slip clutch on it, ya' know hat I mean?
