I am restoring a 1935 Allis Chalmers wc. The front rims I have are F&H 17" round spoke rims that I could not find tires for. I am seeking information on if they made a different size like 16" round spoke rims that would fit the wc? If so I would like to find a pair even if they are in need of repair. Much appreciated Greg

The 17" round spoke rims are not cut-downs! They are original and correct for the '35 wc. If you really just would rather have 16" I have wheels and hubs.

The WC parts book shows that 5.25 X 17 tires were used prior to serial # WC 23529. I think I have a pair of N.O.S. highway tires that size (emphasis on the O.).

The 17 inch spoke front wheels are the correct front factory rims for a 1935 WC and are highly sought after because not a lot of them survived. You can use a 16 inch front 6 bolt disc wheel (rim) but you will have to change hubs and spindles. You should be able to find the 17 inch tires from some specialty tire place I would think becuase I know there are WC"s out there with the 17 inch spindle rims on them. You might try Miller tire. Or maybe some one will know where you can get those tire at.

I am going out on a limb here and guessing that those round spoke wheels were originally all steel wheels. What you have is called "cut-downs". The steel tire was cut off, and a rim that would accept a rubber tire was welded on. You should be able to locate some 16" or even 15" rims, cut off the rims you have, and weld the new rims on. Like I said, I'm guessing.
