Does this cooling system seem to work? Not planning on doing any heavy work with this 48 C after restore. Or is it possible to add water pump. It was my grandfathers tractor and now I am going to restore it.

Proper coolant level is crucial to proper operation of the thermo-siphon system. If too low, it will not circulate at all.

They wrok well if the radiator and block isn't clogged up with rust and lime. Shoot I have never had my 1935 JD-B over heat and it has that type of system but I have had a lot of the systems with water pumps over heat.

Old, if I don't have a water pump why does the radiator have a 7 psi cap? I thought without a water pump they used a non-pressure system.

Well either some one put the wrong cap on it or and on some radaitors it doesn't matter. A lot of the nonpreassureized radaitors have the drain tube down inside the radaitor so haveing a preassureized cap on will not matter.

How about the water temp gauge? Will it work on my C or is it designed to run at hotter temps. And if so do they make a correct one for it.

All my tractors and my pulling tractor have this type of cooling and was afore mentioned keep the water level correct and they work great, if your sending unit is not in the head or the upper part of the system they will always read cold, on my F 20 I tapped into the upper water manifold to get a true reading, even on the hottest of days it never gets over 180 degrees, a water pump on a c would be a waste of time and money!

Yes they make a gauge for your C. I have a B that had a temp gauge on it and it has the same system yours has. I don't know a lot about your tractor as such but I know its sort of like the Bs I have had so almost every thing works the same. A Case/IH dealer should have or be able to get you the correct gauge for your tractor or you could also try this site or valuebilt
