Apart from not actually starting, the injection equipment is steadily sqirting unburned diesel into your engine. While gas oil may have some lubricating properties it is nowhere near as good as oil lubricants. So it can not be good, washing away the lubrication from the bores etc.
It is well known that the highest engine wear rate takes place after cold starts and before the lubrication system is up to full efficiency and the engine is warmed.

Matt, if the starter (or batterys or cables or solenoid etc) is weak enough that she cranks over slow it can be hard to start is what comes to mind, other then that it dont have any affect once shes running.

Diesel engines have very high compression and require a strong starter just to turn them over. If the engine will not turn over it will not start.

Big time,

Starter, batteries and cables all determine (along with the compression) how easily they start.

Okay, Ill have to take it to a rebuild shop and test it. I have a new 1 wire alternator, new 2/0 Cables, and a new Diesel Battery and its hard starting. Is there anything I can do to repair the starter?

New brushes, good cleaning help. Arcing from brush wear need a bit of polishing. Main shaft bushing may need replacing if it has too much slop. Electric shop would have precise calipers and guages. . RN
