Hi Guys,

Last Monday we got a nice little, much needed rain here from a nasty looking quarter-sized cloud. Just a nice little gentle rain.

Yesterday, the wife and I took a drive down on the flats just to look at the irrigated crops 'cause that country is always so darned pretty in the summertime and those farmers are some of the best in the country. Always neat as a pin, those guys.

Anyway, it appears that the nasty little cloud turned into a buzzsaw and mowed down around 7,000-10,000 acres and left nothing but small 1-inch pieces of stubble. Even the pastures were hammered into the ground. Looks like a deserted war zone down there.

Boy, I feel bad for those fellas. :>(

Seeing the title, I was kinda afraid to open this thread, as I figrued you had brought another toy home. :):)

Seriously though, sorry to hear about the losses.

I don't know about out your way, but here in OH, the insurance date has already passed for full season beans. Double crops still have a couple weeks, though. Hope they all had the hail optional coverage.

We went down the next day to drill a well 2 miles east of Jacks Bean, and there was still hail piled up next to the buildings. That storm covered a large area.

Don't know how it missed our place (mile west of the water office).

Pretty sure there is a big arrow in the sky pointing right at it stating, "HAIL BEGIN HERE". :>)

Wonder if it is too late fer those guys to throw some beans in the ground and hope for a late frost?

Allan
