Don't use Bondo.... Use Evercoat instead.

Ditto on the other info.. You can use contrasting primer to see high or low spots.

As for the top coat color.. I try to choose something that will take the paint color well. For instance.. grey primer seems to take blue and white and green fine. I've used buff or grey for yellow, and red oxide is great for dark colors.. reds.. etc.

I use laquire(sp) thinner to clean the bondo spreaders. Just put a little in a shallow pan and let set a while if it has already hardened or just use a rag and some thinner if it is still soft. Be sure to cover the pan with foil or somthing it will catch fire faster than gas. A good pair of chemical resistant gloves is a good idea as the thinner can dry your hands very quickly as well as getting into your system. Don't know about the primer except that I like to use two colors so I know when I'm about to sand through to bare metal. Then I can shoot another coat of build up if need be and still have a good base of primer.
